We are always sad to say goodbye to the Summer season but the Autumn brings so many fun new trends this year in swim and resortwear! This Fall Season we’re excited to see so many classic looks being at the forefront of fashion as well as some unexpected twists. Resort and Cruise wear is shifting into gear with lots of beach-to-bar versatility while swimwear is seeing rich, lush hues and classic prints presented with modern execution. Get ready for your Fall/Winter vacations with some of the chic pieces that are trending this season!
COLOUR:
In contrast to the butter yellows and powder blues of last season, we are seeing an influx of earth tones and neutrals like terracottas, saffrons, and creams as well as reds of all hues from cherry to wine, and deep burgundy. However, the popularity of browns in fashion last season is not going anywhere soon! The carry-over of universally flattering browns (think espressos, chocolates, and hazelnuts) into this Autumn’s swim and resort wear is a welcome mainstay for this season’s trend-chasing jetsetters!
PRINTS:
It feels as if we are getting back to basics here but with an elevated, more modern twist! Two key patterns we are seeing this season are polka dots and stripes.
Polka Dots: This Fall season is seeing less “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” and leaning towards more random patterned dots such as: dots not being equally positioned apart, spots and dots in random different sizes, or dotted prints that appear in nature such as fawn prints and cheetah prints etc.
Stripes: Think nautical and more early aughts preppy striped patterns, Remember those polo shirts from the early 2000’s that every teenager was layering over a long sleeved shirt? That’s the “skater boi”/”high school prep” vibe we’re going for here.
TEXTURES AND DETAILS:
While jewellery-like accents are still a key player in this season’s swimwear, the focus is leaning less towards large metallic features and more towards beaded accents. Mesh, crochet, and natural fabrics like linen and 100% Cotton are still dominating the resortwear scene and matching top & bottom sets are really making a splash this season! Crinkle stretchy swim fabric is also still on-trend as well as contrast colour trim or binding on bikinis and one piece swimsuits.
